Stretching is important before many acts of physical exertion. It is believed to help to prevent injury by getting muscles and tendons used to the extreme limits of their range of movement in a controlled manner, yet this hasn't been proved scientifically.

There is some controversy over which types of stretches are most effective and if some stretches may actually be harmful (For instance, it has been said that bouncing stretches may be harmful).

A general, complete stretching routine might consist of the following stretches:

* Stretch 1
* Stretch 2

Each muscle group may have several stretches:

* Hamstring
* Groin
* Calves
* Hip Flexors
* Shoulders
* Trunk
* etc.
